I recount the ones I’ve lost
Those who have preceded me
Their achievements turned to smoke
Their memories into ash
And their happiness evaporated from our hearts
Life is paper thin
Each moment I hold dear…Each breath I esteem
My soul stands indebted
For their sacrifice of death has made me whole
Memories fade, many never remembered
Cease to ever exist, like words on paper charred in flame
Yes, life is ours to live, but not ours alone
For we are all pilgrims, our journeys brief
And memories is all we’ll ever be
Life is paper thin
